I saw this an instantly thought it was awesome… it’s a freaking vending machine for spray paint! Then I looked at the awful, awful dub in the bottom picture and realised that it would make walls look like shit. Ages ago I saw some cool cassette tape art similar to this at the Saatchi Gallery. If I remember correctly it was done by a student and it had a really poor position in the gallery which was a shame because I thought it was great.
These are by an artist by Nick Gentry using floppy disks as well as cassette tapes. Truly awesome stuff, I love it! See more by clicking on one of the pictures, or here.
It’s about time that I left work and spent the evening tending to my social life but I’ve just seen this and think it’s well worth sharing. It’s an ad for Brand Alley, a pretty unknown online store. But I’m sure this will go viral and they’ll be pretty well recognised within a week.
I think it would have been better if they did it at night with spot lights on each model and the website projected against the buildings or road. It would have looked awesome with all the crimbo lights.
They could have been handing out a shit load of flyers too. The people watching looked pretty interested but probably didn’t catch the web addy on their backs.
